A Typical Day in Kindergarten

Arrival:
Morning jobs – putting away
backpacks, turning in daily folders,
assembly with Surah Fatihah, Dua
/ Hadith of the Week
• Circle / Story Time:
Attendance, lunch count, calendar
and weather, Islamic songs, movement,
finger plays, reading aloud and
story time, shared reading
• Language Arts:
The literacy centers and work stations
are utilized during this period,
focusing on skills fostering independence
in reading, writing, exploration,
creativity, peer interaction and
cooperation
• Snack Time:
Snack is provided from school
• Math: Focus
on number recognition, counting,
patterns, concepts of more than
and less than, graphing, beginning
addition and subtraction
• Social Studies/
Science: This is the integrated
curriculum that is aligned with
the TEKS (Texas Essentials Knowledge
and Skills)
• Recess :
Outside exploration of play, games
and exercise
• Lunch:
Parents must label and send lunches
that do not need to be refrigerated
or heated
• Specials:
This includes specials like Arts,
P.E., Health and Technology Studies
over the course of the week
• Arabic/Quran:
Students engage in Qur’anic
studies and Arabic language reading,
writing, and speaking
• Prayer and Islamic
Studies: Students are taught
the fundamentals of Islam, Sirah,
and Islamic behavior
• Dismissal:
Clean up, pack backpacks and take
home folders
